Hawaii Is 1st State To Commit To Health Insurance Exchange

Law360, New York (June 14, 2012, 6:28 PM EDT) -- Hawaii has become the first state to formally declare it will create a health insurance exchange authorized by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, federal officials said Thursday.

In a letter dated June 7, Aloha State Gov. Neil Abercrombie outlined plans for the Hawaii Health Connector, envisioned as an Expedia-style marketplace for comparing and buying medical coverage.
