Mohawk Hydro Urges Denial Of Rival Project Permit

Law360, New York (June 14, 2012, 7:22 PM EDT) -- Mohawk Hydro Corp. on Thursday asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to deny a preliminary permit application from National Current Energy Services LLC seeking to develop a 5-megawatt tidal power project near Albany, N.Y., claiming the proposal utilizes the same sites as its own project.

The proposed Middle Mohawk Hydroelectric Project, for which Mohawk received a preliminary permit application in November 2009, covers the same area of the Mohawk River within the New York State Canal System as the NCES proposal, Mohawk Hydro said.
