N.Y. Subpoenas Energy Cos. Over CO2 Disclosures

Law360, New York (September 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- New York Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo has subpoenaed five large energy companies over concerns that they failed to disclose the financial risks associated with increased greenhouse gas emissions.

The subpoenas are seeking internal documents about how the companies analyzed climate risks and about how they notified investors of those risks. The companies – AES Corp., Dominion Resources Inc., Xcel Energy, Dynegy Inc. and Peabody Energy – have until Oct. 9 to respond.
