OFT Refers Ryanair-Aer Lingus Deal For Further Review

Law360, New York (June 15, 2012, 5:42 PM EDT) -- The U.K.'s Office of Fair Trading advanced its investigation of Ryanair Holdings PLC's 2006 purchase of a minority stake in Aer Lingus Group PLC on Friday, concluding that the budget carrier's 30 percent holding in the Irish airline could thwart competition.

Two weeks after the U.K.'s highest court rejected Ryanair's final attempt to shut down the investigation, the OFT referred the case to the country's Competition Commission for further investigation.
