ITC Clears AUO, Others In LCD Patent Probe

Law360, New York (June 15, 2012, 4:55 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission handed AU Optronics Corp., Chimei InnoLux Corp. and other liquid crystal display manufacturers a major victory Thursday, ending a probe after finding a majority of the patents Thomson Licensing SAS had asserted against them were invalid.

In a final determination, the ITC ended its probe into allegations by Thomson that six Taiwanese manufacturers had violated Section 337 of the U.S. Tariff Act by making and importing devices that infringed its LCD technology patents.
