ICU Medical Prevails In IV Patent Dispute

Law360, New York (September 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A district court judge granted summary judgment of non-infringement to ICU Medical Inc. on Friday, finding that the company’s needle-free intravenous connector does not infringe rival Medegen MMS Inc.’s patent.

In her ruling, Judge Mariana R. Pfaelzer of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California said that ICU’s CLC2000 medical connector did include a “plug” as defined by the claims construction in Medegen’s patent.
