Calif. Committee Clears Bill To Cap Patient Medical Costs

Law360, New York (June 21, 2012, 6:51 PM EDT) -- A California Senate committee on Wednesday cleared a bill that would institute a cap on out-of-pocket medical expenses for California patients, amending the state law that currently has no limitation on such costs.

Now that the California Senate Committee on Health approved Assemblywoman Fiona Ma's bill, which seeks to impose a $5,950 limit for a single patient and $11,900 for a family of any size, it will move on to the Committee on Appropriations.
