Zurich Needn't Cover NJ Organ Harvesting Defense Costs

Law360, New York (June 28, 2012, 7:13 PM EDT) -- The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled Thursday that a cemetery and crematory sued over the illegal harvesting of human remains isn't owed coverage under two policies from Zurich American Insurance Co. subsidiaries based on the timing and handling exclusions of those agreements.

The court sided with Assurance Co. of America and Maryland Casualty Co., which refused to defend or indemnify Memorial Properties LLC and Mount Hebron Cemetery Association against the claims of families whose dead relatives were allegedly dissected for tissues, bones and organs.
