Mistakes Don't Equal Medicare Fraud, Hospitals Tell Senate

Law360, Washington (June 28, 2012, 4:20 PM EDT) -- The American Hospital Association pushed the Senate Finance Committee to revamp its application of the False Claims Act and eliminate overlap between government audits of hospitals in a letter Tuesday, saying government has blurred the lines between mistakes and actual fraud.

Noting the growing complexity of Medicare and Medicaid payment regulations, AHA recommended the committee and federal agencies work together to streamline their hospital oversight practices, including audits.
