VA Moves To Biennial Checks Of Contractors' Veteran Statuses

Law360, New York (June 29, 2012, 7:13 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs published a rule Wednesday that would require biennial verification of contractors' status as a veteran-owned or service-disabled veteran-owned small business, saying that the current policy of rechecking every year is expensive and burdensome for businesses.

In an interim final rule published in the Federal Register, the agency said it would alter the Veterans Benefits, Health Care, and Information Technology Act of 2006 to require a new status check every two years instead of once a year in an effort to...
