Travelers Must Cover $375M Asbestos Deals, 2nd Circ. Hears

Law360, New York (June 28, 2012, 6:39 PM EDT) -- A group of thousands of asbestos victims on Wednesday asked the Second Circuit to reverse a district court decision that overruled a bankruptcy court order requiring Travelers Indemnity Co. to cover $375 million worth of settlements over injuries allegedly caused by insured Johns-Manville Corp.

The settlements, which were signed in 2004, had called for a clarifying order saying the personal injury plaintiffs were barred from bringing further claims against Travelers, but the district court found that the order never had become final because of a 2010...
