Energy Firms On High Alert In Wake Of Subpoenas

Law360, New York (September 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A recent wave of subpoenas against five major energy companies over concerns that they failed to disclose the financial risks associated with increased greenhouse gas emissions is causing ripples in the energy industry and the legal world alike.

The subpoenas, issued earlier in September by New York Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, seek internal documents about how the companies – AES Corp., Dominion Resources Inc., Xcel Energy, Dynegy Inc. and Peabody Energy – analyzed climate risks and notified investors of those risks.
