Samsung Returns Fire In Patent Dispute With Rambus

Law360 (June 13, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Korean electronics maker Samsung Electronics Co. has raised the stakes in its dispute with Rambus Inc. over memory chip patents, countersuing the U.S. chip designer in Virginia federal court only days after Rambus fired the first legal volley in a California court.

The complaint was filed in the same court that in March handed Rambus a setback in a separate case involving Germany's Infineon Technologies AG.

Samsung, based in South Korea, has paid Rambus royalties on memory chips since 2000, but has declined to pay royalties...
