Retailer Bombay Company Files For Ch. 11

Law360 (September 21, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Furniture and homegoods retailer the Bombay Company Inc. and five of its U.S. subsidiaries have filed for bankruptcy, a move the financially troubled company hopes will save its international brand.

In a voluntary petition for Chapter 11 filed Thursday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas, the Fort Worth, Tex.-based company revealed that it has suffered from financial difficulties for the past three years. The Bombay Company’s Canadian subsidiary also filed for bankruptcy Thursday in Canadian court.
