Federal Judges Urge Caution On Patent Reform

Law360, New York (June 13, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Several federal judges urged Congress to proceed slowly on proposals to overhaul the U.S. patent system, criticizing aspects of the proposed reforms as ill-advised at a patent reform conference in Washington, D.C. last week.

At the conference, sponsored by the Federal Trade Commission, the National Academy of Sciences and the American Intellectual Property Law Association, federal judges said Congress should hold off on voting through proposed patent reforms until more economic and statistical analysis is conducted on the issue.
