Sierra Club Seeks To Block Keystone Pipeline Permit

Law360, New York (July 2, 2012, 3:37 PM EDT) -- Advocacy groups led by Sierra Club Inc. on Friday targeted the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Oklahoma federal court with allegations that a permit covering part of TransCanada Corp.'s contested Keystone XL pipeline was granted without properly considering its environmental impact.

The groups accuse the Army Corps of violating the Clean Air Act and other federal laws by approving a nationwide permit application for the Keystone Pipeline Gulf Coast Project even though the pipeline will cause more than “minimal adverse environmental effects.” The Army Corps...
