GAO Denies TriWest Protest Over $20.4B Pentagon Contract

Law360, New York (July 2, 2012, 6:04 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office on Monday denied a protest filed by TriWest Healthcare Alliance over its loss of an estimated $20.4 billion military health care contract, upholding the U.S. Department of Defense's decision to award the contract to rival UnitedHealth Group Inc.

TriWest, which launched the protest bid in March, argued that its past performance — including a recent $10 million fraud settlement — was unfairly evaluated by the DOD.
