Marathon Oil Wants Royalty Suit Shot Down

Law360, New York (July 3, 2012, 9:50 PM EDT) -- Marathon Oil Corp. asked a Texas judge Monday to throw out a royalty owner's suit claiming the petroleum giant conspired with Noble Energy Inc. and others to cheat him out of millions in royalty payments from an offshore oilfield near Equatorial Guinea.

In a motion for summary judgment, Marathon argues that since 2002, Carr Dishroon has received royalty payments in excess of $10 million under a deal inked more than 20 years ago, and now he simply wants to rewrite the agreement.
