Law360, New York (July 5, 2012, 8:46 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge on Tuesday approved a $2 million settlement that resolves a proposed class action against Amtrak over an employment policy that allegedly largely excluded women from being considered for promotions — a policy the railroad giant will now abolish.
Under the settlement approved by Judge Anita Brody, Amtrak will abandon its so-called one-year employee blocking rule at the heart of the suit and dole out $450,000 to approximately 5,300 potential class members.
