China Power Giant Inks $1.3B Venezuela Transmission Deal

Law360, New York (July 5, 2012, 1:41 PM EDT) -- State Grid Corp. of China has inked a deal worth more than $1.3 billion to help boost capacity on Venezuela's national electric grid, marking the biggest power transmission project by a Chinese company in Venezuela to date, State Grid said.

Government-owned State Grid, one of the largest utility companies in the world, will build new and upgrade existing transmissions facilities in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, and a western city in a project the Chinese conglomerate referred to as Tuoku Ma-Uri in a June 29 statement....
