U.S. Wants Court Approval Of Marcal's Superfund Deal

Law360 (September 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. government has urged a federal bankruptcy court to sign off on a $3 million settlement deal it made with bankruptcy Marcal Paper Mills Inc. over pollution claims involving New Jersey's Lower Passaic River.

In court papers filed Thursday, the U.S. Department of Justice noted that the public comment period for the proposed settlement agreement ended on Sept. 10, and that the United States has only received comments from the Lower Passaic River Study Area Cooperating Parties Group.
