Eli Lilly Pays $18M To Settle Contract Squabble

Law360, New York (September 25, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Eli Lilly & Co. has agreed to pay $18 million to settle a biotechnology company's claims that the pharmaceutical giant stole technology which converts injectable-only drugs into pills that can be taken orally.

Emisphere Technologies Inc. announced Tuesday that it would accept $18 million from Eli Lilly to settle litigation pending in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana regarding a contract dispute and patents rights. Other terms of the settlement remain confidential.
