Obama Campaign Blocks Sales Of Unauthorized Merchandise

Law360, New York (July 9, 2012, 5:50 PM EDT) -- A Washington federal judge on Monday barred a promotion company from selling unauthorized merchandise online featuring President Barack Obama's trademarked 2008 “Rising Sun” campaign logos, but declined to rule on an injunction concerning the 2012 re-election logo.

In a hearing Monday, U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan granted Obama for America an injunction against Washington Promotions & Printing Inc. regarding the 2008 logo, but said he would take the 2012 logo under advisement subject to additional briefing, according to Washington Promotions attorney Michael Culver of Millen...
