Feds Tried To 'Manufacture' NYC Comptroller Case, Atty Says

Law360, New York (July 10, 2012, 5:42 PM EDT) -- Prosecutors pushed a fundraiser for New York City Comptroller John C. Liu to “manufacture” a criminal campaign finance case against the popular mayoral hopeful, the fundraiser's lawyer claimed Tuesday.

The government's conduct has been “egregious,” said Irwin Rochman of Tesser Ryan & Rochman LLP, a lawyer for fundraiser Xu Wing “Oliver” Pan, after a hearing at Manhattan's federal courthouse.
