Rapper Beanie Sigel Gets 2 Years For Tax Evasion

Law360, New York (July 12, 2012, 4:21 PM EDT) -- Rapper Beanie Sigel was sentenced to two years in prison by a Pennsylvania federal judge Thursday, after pleading guilty to charges that he evaded $350,000 worth of tax payments between 2003 and 2005, according to prosecutors.

Sigel, a South Philadelphia native whose real name is Dwight Grant, pled guilty to the charges in August, admitting he avoided paying taxes on more than $1 million in net income between 2003 and 2005. He rose to fame in the early 2000s after he was signed to Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella...
