Banks Settle "David V. Goliath" Trademark Dispute

Law360 (June 18, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Citizens Financial Group and the smaller Citizens National Bank of Evans City have settled a four-year trademark battle that pitted a small bank against a multinational financial-services giant.

In a joint statement released Friday, Citizens National Bank said it agreed to release its name to the larger bank and change the names of its 15 bank branches in western Pennsylvania. The smaller bank plans to phase in a yet-to-be-revealed new name in the near future.
