ITC Opens Probe In Qualcomm, Broadcom Patent Dispute

Law360 (June 20, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has launched an investigation into whether chip maker Qualcomm Inc. has engaged in unfair trade practices, rival Broadcom said.

The ITC began a probe into whether Qualcomm engaged in unfair trade practices by importing products that infringe Broadcom’s patents, including baseband processor chips or chipsets, transmitter or receiver chips and power control chips, or products containing these items, including cellular telephone handsets, the company said.

Broadcom is seeking a permanent order to bar the U.S. imports of those products, as well...
