States AGs Get On Board With Bus Merger

Law360, New York (September 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Bus operator Laidlaw International Inc. said Wednesday that it has reached an agreement with 11 state attorneys general resolving antitrust concerns over its acquisition by FirstGroup plc, and expects speedy approval from the U.S. Department of Justice of the deal.

If everything goes as planned, Illinois-based Laidlaw and FirstGroup said the proposed $3.6 billion deal will be completed by Monday.

FirstGroup said the agreement reached with the 11 states is based on a “package of remedies designed to resolve any antitrust concerns in those states.”...
