Judge Orders Mediation In $128M Patent Case Over Prepaid Wireless Service

Law360, New York (June 21, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The judge presiding over Freedom Wireless’ $128 million patent infringement lawsuit against prepaid cellular phone service company Boston Communications Group and four carriers has suspended the non-jury trial to consider BCGI’s unenforceability defense and ordered the companies to go into mediation.

If the mediation is unsuccessful and the parties are unable to reach a settlement, the non-jury trial is currently scheduled to resume on July 14, 2005 and could last one to two weeks, BCGI said in a statement.
