Ryanair Fights UK Refusal To Halt Aer Lingus Probe

Law360, New York (July 16, 2012, 7:08 PM EDT) -- Ryanair Holdings PLC has challenged the U.K. Competition Commission's decision to continue its investigation into the company's minority stake in Aer Lingus Group PLC, claiming the carrier's latest takeover bid gives the European Commission authority over the case, a British appeals court said Monday.

The budget airline argued in a notice of appeal Friday that its €694 million ($881 million) hostile bid for Aer Lingus should have put a stop to the CC's probe of the minority stake, according to the U.K.'s Competition Appeal Tribunal....
