Utility Regulator Orders NJ Power Co. To Defend Rates

Law360, New York (July 18, 2012, 6:05 PM EDT) -- Jersey Central Power & Light will have to defend its earnings and address performance concerns under a review that New Jersey's utilities regulators ordered Wednesday based on concerns the utility reaped an unreasonable return on its electrical services.

During a meeting in Trenton, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities voted unanimously to direct JCP&L to file a base rate case, which the state's Division of Rate Counsel requested last year.
