Ill. Gov. OKs Bills To Boost Clean Energy, Protect Consumers

Law360, New York (July 18, 2012, 9:34 PM EDT) -- Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn signed three bills into law Wednesday designed to encourage investment in small-scale renewable energy projects, give townships greater control over their electricity supplies, and protect consumers in billing disputes with utilities.

Flanked by Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan and members of a consumer rights watchdog group, Quinn, a Democrat, signed the bills as part of a legislative package he said would increase consumer protection in the state. A fourth bill in the package cracks down on false phone charges.
