National Grid To Pay $1.7M Over Illegal Gifts

Law360, New York (July 19, 2012, 9:15 PM EDT) -- National Grid PLC agreed Wednesday to pay a $1.67 million fine to resolve an investigation by New York’s inspector general that found company employees bought New York Public Service Commission staff $7,000 in illegal gifts.

The company said the fine, which it will pay to the NYPSC, will cover alleged violations of the New York State Lobbying Law and Public Service Law that occurred over three years.
