CPSC Sues Buckyballs Maker Over Customer Injuries

Law360, New York (July 25, 2012, 11:12 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission sued the maker of the Buckyballs magnetic toys Wednesday over an alleged defect that can cause severe injury if the product is accidentally swallowed, a rare move marking the second administrative complaint by the commission in 11 years.

In a suit before the commission, the CPSC claims Maxfield & Oberton Holdings LLC didn't agree to a voluntary recall plan for the products, which have allegedly seriously injured several young children and teenagers who swallowed them. According to the CPSC, the...
