High Court Asked To Hold Dow Liable For Watercraft Explosion

Law360, New York (July 27, 2012, 5:12 PM EDT) -- A recreational watercraft manufacturer has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to hold a Canadian unit of Dow Chemical Co. accountable for an explosion allegedly caused by a faulty fuel tank, arguing that Dow is liable under California law because it knew the products would be sold in the state.

In a petition for writ of certiorari filed July 16, watercraft company Bombardier Inc. said the high court should hear the case to resolve conflicting lower court rulings dealing with personal jurisdiction and help guide foreign participants...
