Sen. Vows To Keep Heat On NHTSA Over Toyota Investigation

Law360, New York (July 30, 2012, 8:28 PM EDT) -- Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said Monday he would continue to probe the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's handling of an investigation into an alleged Toyota Corp. unintended-acceleration defect, despite the agency's insistence it studied the issue exhaustively.

Grassley questioned the thoroughness of NHTSA and NASA investigations into the alleged defect in a July 12 letter to NHTSA. The agencies concluded in separate 2011 reports that there was no evidence an electronics malfunction was to blame for the acceleration problems in Toyota cars.
