Telecoms Face Off Over Special Access Market

Law360, New York (October 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Sprint Nextel Corp. Chief Executive Gary D. Forsee told lawmakers on Tuesday that the two dominant special access providers in the high volume, bulk business telecommunications market – AT&T and Verizon – are inflating special access prices and unfairly imposing anti-competitive contract terms and conditions.

Forsee said in prepared testimony at a House Telecommunications Subcommittee hearing that the special access market is a failure, and that this market failure is a substantial barrier to bringing broadband to the American public.
