Butterball Rolls Out $4M Deal To End Don, Doff Disputes
By Lana Birbrair (July 30, 2012, 9:56 PM EDT) -- Butterball LLC agreed to pay more than $4.2 million Monday to settle class claims brought by workers at Arkansas turkey processing plants who claimed the company didn't compensate them for time spent donning and doffing protective gear.
In a motion for preliminary approval of the settlement, attorneys for plaintiffs in two separate Arkansas federal cases asked the court to approve of Butterball's plan to pay $4.25 million, not including attorneys' fees or costs, to end suits alleging the company violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by refusing to compensate hourly employees for time spent donning, doffing and sanitizing required gear and...
