EU Clears Marriage Of Sony, Bertelsmann—Again

Law360 (October 3, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- To the dismay of European independent music companies, the European Commission on Wednesday approved the merger of the music arms of Sony Corp. and Bertelsmann AG for a second time.

The commission had originally approved the deal in July 2004. But two years later, the Luxembourg-based European Court of First Instance annulled the ruling, prompting a second inquiry.
