ADM, Others Can't Dodge Corn Syrup False Ad Claims

Law360, New York (August 1, 2012, 8:06 PM EDT) -- Archer Daniels Midland Co. and three other high fructose corn syrup producers lost a bid Monday to escape a California lawsuit brought by sugar growers who say the companies conspired to deceptively rebrand corn syrup — which has been linked in studies to an increase in obesity — as a “natural” product equivalent to sugar.

U.S. District Judge Consuelo B. Marshall found that the sugar growers had provided detailed allegations against each individual defendant and therefore made a strong enough case to link the corn syrup...
