Fla., Texas Lead In Shady Medicare Billing For Home Care

Law360, New York (August 2, 2012, 2:41 PM EDT) -- Florida and Texas are dramatically outpacing the national average when it comes to questionable billing of Medicare for home health services, according to a government audit issued Thursday that recommends temporarily halting enrollment of new providers and suppliers in the states.

The analysis of claims paid in 2010 found Florida’s home health care companies engaged in suspicious billing activity at nearly six times the national rate, and that Texas did so at five time the country’s average pace.
