Hecla Mining Asks Judge To Ax Del. Derivatives Suit

Law360, Wilmington (August 3, 2012, 10:56 PM EDT) -- Directors of the Hecla Mining Co. asked a Delaware judge Friday to toss a shareholder derivative suit that alleges their conscious disregard to duty led to a costly mine accident, arguing the complaint fails to show any specific connection.

Filed in Delaware Chancery court, the suit claims Hecla's board disregarded its fiduciary duty by failing to properly maintain safety standards at its Idaho mine, which resulted in a Dec. 14 “rock burst” that injured seven miners and forced the company to suspend several valuable operations....
