Micron Countersues Tessera In Chip Patent Dispute

Law360, New York (July 8, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Computer memory chip maker Micron Technology has countersued chip packaging company Tessera Technologies, several months after Tessera sued Micron and Infineon Technologies for patent infringement and anticompetitive conduct.

In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Micron said it filed the counterclaims on June 22, alleging infringement of eight Micron patents by Tessera, which licenses microchip packaging technology.

Micron also asked the U.S. District Court for the District of Eastern Texas to declare that it did not infringe on Tessera patent, the company said....
