Employers Say ACA Will Hike Their Health Costs: Report

Law360, New York (August 8, 2012, 12:52 PM EDT) -- A majority of employers expect their health care plan costs to rise under the Affordable Care Act, with the wallets of retail and hospitality employers that employ part-time, low-paid workers feeling the biggest bite, consulting firm Mercer LLC said Wednesday.

Mercer recently surveyed more than 1,200 employers and found that 60 percent expect some increase in their health plan costs when employer provisions of the ACA go into effect in 2014. One-third of those employers expect the increases of at least 5 percent, Mercer said....
