CR Bard's Faulty Filters Pose Health Risks, Suit Says

Law360, New York (August 10, 2012, 3:45 PM EDT) -- C.R. Bard Inc. was hit with a pair of class actions in Pennsylvania and California on Thursday alleging the medical device maker tried to conceal the health risks associated with its blood vessel filters.

The complaints allege that Bard widely distributed the devices, which are used to filter blood clots before they have a chance to travel to the heart or lungs, before learning in 2003 that they were prone to fracturing or breaking apart after being implanted in the body, causing risk of damage to organs and other tissue.
