Simon Property Must Face Antitrust Suit Over Mall Leases

Law360, New York (August 10, 2012, 5:10 PM EDT) -- Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group Inc.'s attempt to dismiss competitor Gumwood HP Shopping Partners LP's suit alleging interference with key retailers' lease agreements hit a roadblock Wednesday, when a federal judge found that Gumwood had sufficiently pled antitrust claims.

In November, Simon sought to dismiss Gumwood's allegations that the mall giant had monopolized a particular market by convincing two tenants to break their leases at Gumwood's Heritage Square shopping center in Mishawaka, Ind.
