Winn-Dixie Loses Bulk Of 100-Store Lease Exclusivity Suit

Law360, New York (August 14, 2012, 2:58 PM EDT) -- A Florida federal judge on Monday booted the bulk of nearly 100 requests by Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. for damages and injunctions over rival retailers' alleged violations of grocery exclusivity clauses in Winn-Dixie leases.

U.S. District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks granted injunctions for only a handful of the nearly 100 shopping centers where Winn-Dixie said that Dollar Tree Stores Inc., Big Lots Inc. and Dolgencorp LLC, popularly known as Dollar General, had violated agreements giving Winn-Dixie the exclusive right to operate a grocery store.
