Connecticut Takes Aim At Marsh & McLennan Unit

Law360, New York (October 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Connecticut attorney general has hit a reinsurance unit of beleaguered Marsh & McLennan Cos. with an antitrust suit, charging the subsidiary with illegally conspiring to drive up insurance costs for the state's consumers.

On Monday, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal slapped the Guy Carpenter unit with a lawsuit, charging the risk entity with engaging in anti-competitive behavior that artificially inflated prices in the reinsurance industry, according to Reuters.
