UK Co. Contests Ruling That It Evaded Chinese Electrode Duties

Law360, New York (August 17, 2012, 5:21 PM EDT) -- U.K. Carbon & Graphite Co. Ltd. sued the U.S. Department of Commerce in the U.S. Court of International Trade on Wednesday to challenge a ruling that the British materials company had circumvented anti-dumping duties on Chinese graphite electrodes by making minor alterations in the U.K.

The Derbyshire, U.K.-based company filed a lawsuit in the CIT to overturn the Commerce's July 31 anti-circumvention decision on the electrodes, which are most commonly used in melting and furnace applications in steel refining.
