China Says US Is Illegally Subsidizing Clean Energy Projects

Law360, New York (August 20, 2012, 1:49 PM EDT) -- China's Ministry of Commerce said Monday that six renewable energy projects in the U.S. are in violation of World Trade Organization rules covering state subsidies and trade barriers.

Following an investigation, the ministry found that a solar project in Massachusetts, a wind power undertaking in Ohio, and four other renewable energy projects in New Jersey, Washington and California are in breach of the WTO Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, according to a statement from the ministry....
